From Kazan to Tashkent: The Uzbek heritage from the “Art of Islamic Peoples” collection will be showcased

🔴Shahrisabz Suzani, textile works embellished with silk braids, and unique artifacts reflecting our spiritual heritage – a path of priceless exhibits

For centuries, Islamic civilization has harmonized the artistic taste, spiritual world, and life views of different peoples, making an incomparable contribution to human progress. The works of art created in this process — suzani, textile pieces, manuscript books, handicrafts, and household items served not only as decoration but also as expressions of humanity’s understanding of the structure of the world, prosperity, and protection.

A collection of such priceless heritage is preserved in the Art of Islamic Peoples section of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation. This unique collection showcases the beautiful image of Islamic civilization through works of art created by various nations over the centuries.

Among them, exhibits connected to Uzbekistan hold a special place. In particular, 19th–20th-century Shahrisabz suzani, textile works adorned with silk braids, and artifacts reflecting our nation’s spiritual heritage enrich the collection further. They are valued as living witnesses of our creativity, aesthetic taste, and historical memory.

Currently, a scientific collaboration has been established between the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. Within this partnership, exhibitions, displays, and research activities are being organized to bring cultural heritage to a wide audience.

As a result of this practical cooperation, these exhibits preserved in Kazan are planned to be displayed in Tashkent as a traveling exhibition at the museum of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. This initiative will strengthen cultural ties between the two peoples and further inspire younger generations to engage with history and culture.
