Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiative put forward at the UN has become a reality – Aladwani Shaker Salah
On September 26–27, 2025, the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent hosted an international expert forum in support of the efforts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to preserve the true humanistic essence of Islam and to promote intercultural dialogue.
In his recent speech at the 80th jubilee session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Head of State emphasized the wide-ranging reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, particularly in the fields of science and enlightenment. In this context, the opening of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan was highlighted as a highly anticipated event for the global scholarly community.
The two-day forum brought together more than 100 experts from over 20 countries and prestigious international organizations such as IRCICA, ICESCO, TURKSOY, the Muslim World League, the University of Oxford, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Christie’s. This event marked a logical continuation of Uzbekistan’s spiritual and educational policies and the beginning of a new stage in international scholarly cooperation.

Aladwani Shaker Salah,
Director of Conferences and Events, Muslim World League:
“First of all, we are very pleased to have participated in the International Expert Forum held at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. The event was attended by distinguished specialists from various countries around the world.
The Center was established on the initiative put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, from the UN podium, and today this has become a reality.
The Center itself is very beautiful and rich. Its sections are truly remarkable. Above all, it houses the Mushaf of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) a unique and rare copy of the Qur’an. This Mushaf is an invaluable cultural and historical heritage for the entire Islamic world, bearing great importance both internationally and regionally.
The Center also preserves valuable Qur’an manuscripts of immense significance. Printed editions can be quickly reproduced and disseminated globally in print or electronic form, but manuscripts retain their exceptional historical value as an irreplaceable part of Islamic heritage”.
The participants of the International Expert Forum acknowledged the initiatives advanced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev from the prestigious UN podium, noting that the Center for Islamic Civilization holds great importance not only for Uzbekistan but for the entire Islamic world.
