A facsimile edition of the “Temurnama” manuscript preserved in the National Library of Iran will be published

At the international forum “The Legacy of the Great Past – the Foundation of an Enlightened Future” held in Tashkent, more than 100 scholars and representatives of international organizations from over 20 countries participated and shared information about the growing cooperation with the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Gholamreza Amirkhani, Director of the National Archives and Library of Iran:
About a month ago, a special room dedicated to the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan was opened at the National Library of Iran. There, Uzbekistan’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage is displayed, giving Iranian researchers access to these resources.
It is also expected that a room dedicated to the National Library of Iran will be established at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.
The importance of this initiative lies in the fact that ancient nations like Iran and Uzbekistan are bound by cultural ties and a shared heritage. The works of great scholars such as al-Biruni, al-Khwarizmi, and Ibn Sina are the pride of all humanity. This initiative symbolizes cooperation and common cultural connections between the two brotherly countries.
We have been working in this field for many years. The first step in preserving ancient manuscripts is their identification. Some are still kept scattered in households or various places. It is essential to identify, digitize, and, when necessary, restore them using scientific and chemical methods. At the National Library of Iran, such work has been ongoing for many years. Almost all manuscripts, old publications, and documents have been digitized. Now we are ready to share this experience with Uzbekistan, particularly with the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.
Libraries, being cultural institutions distant from political issues, are ideal places for dialogue between civilizations and peoples. Especially in the Islamic world, a common language, religion, and holy book strengthen cooperation.
One of the important joint projects at present is the publication of a facsimile edition of the “Temurnama” manuscript preserved in the National Library of Iran. It is an immensely valuable work, richly decorated with miniatures and ornaments. God willing, we will publish it soon in collaboration with the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan
