A unique opportunity not only in Uzbekistan but also on an international scale – Moin Ahmad Nizami
Moin Ahmad Nizami, Research Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (United Kingdom)
This is my first time visiting both Tashkent and the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. I was deeply impressed by the building. It is beautifully constructed and well completed. But it is not only about the building itself it is also about the opportunities it provides for studying Uzbek culture, civilization, and history. That is truly remarkable.
Among what I saw, the Qur’an exhibition left a particularly strong impression. I was especially pleased to see that the most important Qur’an manuscript preserved here the Uthman Mushaf is part of the collection. It must be safeguarded. In my opinion, as a center of Uzbek civilization and culture, this place is an ideal site for preserving such sacred heritage.
This is a unique initiative in Uzbekistan, bringing together different centers and scholarly traditions. It represents not only an opportunity for Uzbekistan but also a unique opportunity on an international scale. It can establish connections with various universities and academic centers in Europe, the United States, and the Muslim world. I believe such collaborative projects will help achieve a deeper understanding of Uzbekistan’s history. I am glad to see that efforts in this direction are ongoing.
