“The Center will undoubtedly strengthen our regional cooperation” said an ICESCO official

In today’s globalized world, promoting interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue has become one of the most urgent priorities. Uzbekistan is recognized as a leading initiator in this field across the region, distinguished by its open, tolerant, and academically grounded approach. In this regard, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has become one of the most significant international scholarly and spiritual platforms. The Center has built systematic cooperation with prominent international organizations such as UNESCO and ICESCO, contributing to the global promotion of Islamic cultural heritage.

Within this framework, a delegation led by Maryam Gafar-Zada, Deputy Director of ICESCO’s Regional Office in Baku, visited the Center to closely study its activities. The delegation also included experts from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan.

The guests explored all sections of the Center “Pre-Islamic Period,” “First Renaissance,” “Second Renaissance,” and “New Uzbekistan — Foundation of the New Renaissance”. They expressed great interest in the scholarly approaches and modern technological solutions presented in the exhibitions.

Maryam Gafar-Zada, Deputy Director of ICESCO’s Regional Office in Baku:

During our visit to your beautiful country, we had the opportunity to come to the Islamic Civilization Center.

This unique Center is a practical embodiment of the great attention paid by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the development of science, enlightenment, and cultural heritage. This is our first time here, and on behalf of the delegation, I can say that what we saw left us deeply impressed the exhibitions are arranged with exceptional taste, highly engaging in content, and truly distinctive.

One of the most important features of the Center is that it vividly highlights the vast heritage left by Islamic civilization across this broad region and the significant contribution of the peoples of these lands to cultural development. Seeing the ancient artifacts once again confirmed Uzbekistan’s ancient history, rich culture, and profound scholarly legacy.

We express our sincere gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for such a remarkable initiative. I am confident that this Center will provide every visitor with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of your culture and Islamic art.

Such visits strengthen scientific diplomacy, expand international cooperation, and promote deeper regional cultural integration. Through these interactions, Uzbekistan’s rich civilizational heritage is gaining even broader recognition around the world.
